The Púca (Irish for goblin)

Pwwka, Pooka, Puka, Phouka, Púka, Pwca in (see Puck). The origin of the name may come from the Scandinavian word for "nature spirit" — This magnificent shapeshifter is a creature of Celtic folklore , sometimes appearing as a rabbit , goat , goblin , horse or a dog . Most people know of the pookah from the movie "Harvey" starring Jimmy Stewart . Recently a friend of mine told me her son has an imaginary friend who is a rabbit and it reignited my fascination with pookah's.These benevolent creatures can be hostile or kindly.Farmers used to sacrifice a small part of their crop to the pookah's.Some pookah's bestowed advice , and in my young friends case his pookah told him that there is a afterlife where a female being greats souls in the inbetween to help them move on to rebirth. Its a pretty profound concept coming from a 4 1/2 year old.Maybe the world is more magical than I thought.Don't stop believing in Puck!
